The work of walking down rows of seed corn and pulling the male tassel from the top of one parent variety so the other variety pollinates it. In Nebraska, Iowa and surrounding states it's a generations-old rite-of-passage summer job for 13-to-18-year-olds, paying minimum wage plus piece-rate bonuses; the verb is instantly recognized in farm towns and almost nowhere else.
