A slot zombie is a casino patron — typically locals, not tourists — who parks at a video slot machine for hours, pushing the button on autopilot with no expression. Nevadans use it half-affectionately, half-pitifully; every Las Vegas or Reno resident knows at least one. The term highlights problem-gambling behavior in a state where slots line grocery stores and gas stations, not just casinos.
