chocolate gravy

A warm, sweet gravy made from cocoa, sugar, flour or a roux, and butter, traditionally ladled over fresh biscuits at breakfast. Strongly associated with Arkansas and the surrounding Ozark and Appalachian South, it spread in the early twentieth century with cheap cocoa powder and remains a regional comfort food.
