chili and cinnamon rolls

The Nebraska (and Iowa) tradition of serving a frosted cinnamon roll alongside a bowl of chili, especially in school cafeterias but also at diners, restaurants, and Husker tailgates. The sweet roll is dipped into or eaten with the chili, the sugar cooling the spice. Outsiders find it strange, but it is a beloved regional comfort-food combination.
