Chinook Jargon-derived Alaska term (chee 'new' + chako 'to come') for a newcomer, especially someone who has not yet survived an Alaskan winter. Opposite of 'sourdough'. Spread into wide use by Robert W. Service's Klondike Gold Rush poetry.
